What do you do if you have multiple armed attackers?

In gathering your capability to defend yourself you have to learn about multiple armed attackers and the rules that follow from that situation.  Now in addition these armed attackers may even have edged weapons, ballistic weapons, or bludgeoning weapons.  Regardless of the type of weapons your attackers have, you typically have to deal with a certain set of rules.

Your first rule is to close the distance on the closest of your multiple attackers.  He has to be your primary target in the beginning.  Once you close the distance you must disarm and possibly neutralize that opponent.  Let's talk about the possible neutralization part, not from a legal standpoint this time, but rather a practical standpoint.  If for example it your are closest attacker did not have a gun, but rather one of the outer attackers does have a gun, then you need to disable your closest opponent and use them as a shield.  If the opponent with a gun is going to shoot you he is going to have to shoot you through your opponent.  Usually what happens at this point is the person with the handgun closes the distance so that you now may engage him and remove that weapon.  Now your first opponent, if he had a bludgeoning device or an edged weapon, you are going to utilize it  to gain access to that handgun.  Once you disarm the handgun now we need to deal with utilizing that for your safety.

If during the disarming of your second opponent, you notice that the third opponent also has a gun, well it's very important to learn a disarm that allows you to shoot the third opponent before you actually disarmed the second opponent.  This also allows you to capitalize on the confusion between your disarming of the second opponent, because the third opponent will typically not try to shoot you, especially if they think your opponent is still in control of the situation.  So you can psychologically use that time to disable your third opponent and then possibly disable your second opponent as well.

You should go over these possible scenarios with your martial arts instructor or your women's self-defense instructor so that you can understand the dynamics that you must perform in order to save your life or the life of your loved ones.  Multiple attackers actually give you an advantage in the psychological play because they think you're not going to do anything, they are too powerful, and that gives you those few seconds of time necessary to move through that particular self-defense nightmare.

In conclusion, remember your four weapons disarms laws and the new law of engaging the closest opponent, and then moving through your self-defense scenario according to the closest opponent each and every time.  If you have your choice of situations you would like to have to disarm the gun first and then shoot the rest of them as necessary.
